Northport man killed in single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa County

A 25-year-old Northport man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Tuscaloosa County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Nickolas S. Newell was fatally injured when the 2005 GMC Yukon he was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Newell was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The crash occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Martin Road East, about 3 miles northeast of Northport.

No further information was provided. Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
