Genesis HealthCare System celebrated the opening of its new Northside Pharmacy on Taylor Street in Zanesville this week.

ZANESVILLE — Having outgrown its old location on Bell Street, Northside Pharmacy opened a new facility on Taylor Street last month. Company officials said it will be unlike any in the area, offering services that will make it one of most comprehensive pharmacies in the state.

CEO of Northside's parent company Genesis HealthCare System Matt Perry said the new facility will have a 24-hour, drive-thru window open seven days a week, the first in the region.

In addition to the drive through, the new building will soon offer a service the company calls All My Meds, which will offer new packaging options for medication, from the traditional vials to daily dose cards to pouches. In addition, Northside will offer mail and delivery services for medications.

E.J. Stoepfel, director of Northside Pharmacies, said a pair of small examination rooms will allow pharmacists to work with patients to make sure they are taking their medications properly, and in the right doses. "It will be one of the first of its kind in Ohio," he said.

In addition, the pharmacy will be able to do testing for things like strep and the flu, and give vaccinations. That service is expected to start this summer, Stoepfel said.

Despite having been open less than a month, the new facility has seen an uptick in traffic during times the Bell Street location was normally closed, Stoepfel added.

The former Bell Street location will be demolished to provide additional parking for the system's orthopedic clinic across the street, as well as some other nearby health care facilities.

Northside Pharmacy has nine locations across the area.
