Health care workers honored with hero pins on anniversary of 1st NY COVID case

During the first surge last spring, Northwell Health workers treated more than 70,000 COVID-19 patients across the system.

- Healthcare workers on Long Island received a special gift today, one year after the first confirmed coronavirus case in New York. Plainview and Syosset Hospital staff were presented with 2020 hero pins from the town of Oyster Bay. During the first coronavirus surge last spring, Northwell Health workers treated more than 70,000 patients across the system. Plainview and Syosset Hospitals, two community hospitals agreed to take on patients from other Northwell hospitals that were facing patients surge capacity.
