Norts, Leuck win Knight of the Year awards in Erie

ERIE — Tad and Jennifer Norts have been named Family of the Year, and Tim Leuck was named Knight of the Year for 2023 by St. Joseph Council 7413, Knights of Columbus.

The awards were announced by Ben Roelant, grand knight for the council at its annual Christmas banquet held recently.

Tad and the former Jennifer Borck have been married for 31.5 years and have one son, Tyler, of Erie. Tad served as grand knight for two years, until July 1, when Roelant succeeded him. Tad also was deputy grand knight for two years and a trustee for three years. He also has volunteered for the Goodfellow Newspaper and Tootsie Roll Sales.

Jennifer is secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary and serves as a sacristan at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Erie, of which she and her husband are active members. The couple also volunteers at the council’s weekly bingo held on Thursday nights at the Monroe Knights of Columbus hall.

Leuck
Leuck

Leuck, 60, grew up in Genoa, Ohio, and joined the council in 2022. He was chosen Knight of the Month in August, 2023. He is a caller for the weekly bingo. He and his wife, Susan, have two children: Tabatha and Erin. The Leucks met while working for the Marathon Oil Pipeline in Temperance and are also members of St. Joseph Church, where they both usher at Mass. Both retired from the pipeline on July 1, she after 30 years and he after 21 years. He also has worked at the Monroe County Fair as a gate attendant near C parking lot off M-50.

A Navy veteran who served overseas in the Iraq War, Susan is a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, where she assisted with the auxiliary feather party in November and the parish’s homecoming celebration in September.
