Norwalk clinches Lake title share

Sep. 29—VERMILION — The Norwalk High School boys soccer team clinched a share of the SBC Lake Division championship with a 4-1 win at Vermilion on Wednesday night.

Cameron Shoop, Spencer Colahan, Landon Ferkel and Marco Sanchez each netted a goal for the Truckers, who improved to 9-2-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the league.

Shoop, Ferkel, Mason Gamble and Braedyn Demuth each had an assist for Norwalk.

Jose Negrete and Ashton Coe each made one save for the Truckers, who have outscored Lake Division opponents by a 94-3 margin in the nine matches this season.

"We controlled the tempo and did an excellent job keeping the pressure on Vermilion for the entire 80 minutes," Norwalk coach Wes Sellers said. "I am extremely proud of how hard the boys have worked this season and bought into what us, as coaches, have asked of them.

"All 20 boys on the roster are contributing to our success. We are looking forward to our last game of SBC play this Monday on our home field."

The Truckers have one league match remaining, and will win the Lake Division outright with either a win or a draw against Perkins (6-5-1, 5-1-1) at 7 p.m. on Monday. The two teams tied 2-2 on Sept. 14 at Perkins.
