Panorama and Orient-Macksburg schools Superintendent Shawn Holloway will be the next leader of the Norwalk Community School District.

Holloway is slated to replace outgoing Superintendent Duane "D.T." Magee on July 1. Magee — who announced his resignation in early March from the position he has held since 2016 — will be the next executive director of the Iowa Association of School Boards.

Holloway earned an education specialist degree from Wayne State College and is a member of the Panora Economic Development Group. The long-time educator previously served as superintendent and elementary principal of the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District.

While with Panorama and Orient-Macksburg schools, Holloway helped create a five-year facilities improvement plan.

“I am honored and humbled to be chosen for the opportunity to lead the Norwalk Community School District,” said Holloway in a district news release.

The Norwalk School Board initially interviewed seven candidates for the position and worked with the superintendent search firm Grundmeyer Leader Services.
