Norwalk Easter Public Library takes your summer reading challenge off the beaten path

Library Closure: Norwalk Easter Public Library is closed on Monday, May 30, in honor of Memorial Day. The online services are available 24/7 at www.norwalklibrary.org for downloads, databases, and placing holds on library materials.

'Read Beyond the Beaten Path'

Adventure and fun abound in the “Read Beyond the Beaten Path” Summer Reading Program. The program runs from May 31-July 31. The reading program is free for all children, teens, and adults. Participants can download the free app or visit norwalkiowa.benstack.org/reader365 to join. If you prefer a paper log, pick one up at the library’s desk.

Where to hold your event?

Meeting Room Space: Looking for a site for a graduation party, baby shower, birthday, or other gathering? Norwalk Easter Public Library has re-opened its meeting room for reservations. This room may be used for civic, community, cultural, educational, political, religious, or social activities. Library-related groups, nonprofit organizations, and departments of federal, state, and local government may use the meeting room free of charge. A $50.00 rental fee is charged for private, social, or political gatherings. Storytimes, magicians and art, oh my!

Summer Storytimes: Tuesday/Wednesday mornings starting June 1 at 10:30 a.m.

We’ve got books and rhymes for a grand old time.  We’ll have a fun, interactive 25-minute storytime.  Tuesday storytimes will be followed by playtime or themed activities in the library’s meeting room.  Wednesday storytimes will be outdoors in City Park.  Recommended for ages 2-5.

Teen Takeover: Most Thursday nights starting June 2 from 6-8 p.m. or 8-10 p.m.

Check the schedule at https://norwalklibrary.libcal.com/ to see what tweens/teens will do – candy sushi, video gaming, crafts, interactive movie, murder mystery, laser tag, and always snacking!  Registration is preferred.

Magician Mikayla Oz: Friday, June 10 from 1-2 p.m.

Mikayla Oz has been astonishing audiences from coast to coast. Combining magic, music, comedy, and storytelling, Mikayla is guaranteed to stand out. Come and be a part of the magic.  Weather permitting, this event will be outdoors in City Park so bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Art on the Lawn: Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (drop in any time)

This fun, open-ended art experience for all ages is on the library’s front lawn.  Participation is free; all materials are provided. Choose from a variety of art-related activities and dress for mess!
