Norwalk girls win SBC Lake Shootout

Sep. 2—OXFORD TWP. — The Norwalk High School girls golf team won Thursday's SBC Lake Division Shootout by three strokes at Woussickett golf course.

The Truckers totaled a 203 to edge host Perkins (206).

Rounding out the team standings on Thursday was Bellevue (211), Clyde (216), Vermilion (217), Oak Harbor (230), Port Clinton (242), Columbian (268), Sandusky (275).

Kilee Duncan shot a 47 to lead the Truckers, while Hayley Zagor was close behind with a 49.

Also for Norwalk, Analiese King shot a 53, followed by Katie Wolcott (54), Kennedy Leto (54) and Gracie Wiegel (63).

Norwalk third at Lake Shootout

OXFORD TWP. — The Truckers totaled a 179 to finish behind Bellevue (160) and Columbian (168) at an SBC Lake Shootout Thursday at Woussickett.

For Norwalk, Bray Malson led the way with a 39. He was followed by Spencer Shutt (46), Dylan Pigman (47) and Avery Scheel (47).

The Lake has two remaining shootouts, plus the league tournament, to decide the title.

TENNIS

Norwalk 5, Vermilion 0

NORWALK — The Norwalk High School girls tennis team improved to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the SBC Lake with Thursday's sweep over visiting Vermilion at the Middle School courts.

In singles play, Norwalk's Megan Miller (6-0, 6-0), Sidney Sage (6-1, 6-0) and Ana Osborn (6-0, 6-0) dropped just one game in wins over Kylee McCrimmon, Ava Leslie and Cora Frederick.

At first doubles, Maya Phillips and Kendall Hammersmith won over Maddie Collins and McKenna Honnell (6-0, 6-4). At second doubles, Laruen Brown and Kenzie Smith topped Sydney Stacklin and Lia Leimbach (6-0, 6-2).

In junior varsity action, Sarah Hart (6-3), Lilly McDuffie (6-2, 6-0) and Zoey Cooper (6-3) each won singles matches.

Norwalk is off until next Thursday (Sept. 8) at home against Sandusky.

BOYS SOCCER

Norwalk 16, Clyde 0

NORWALK — The Truckers poured it on in Wednesday's rout over visiting Columbian to improve to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the SBC Lake.

Cameron Shoop scored four goals and added three assists to pace Norwalk, while Erik Rangle-Negrete had three goals and two assists. Braedyn Demuth scored twice and had an assist.

Scoring once for the Truckers was CJ Johnson, Corbin Sigg, Jose Negrete, Juan Martinez, Landon Ferkel, Marco Sanchez, Mason Gamble and Spencer Colahan.

Also for Norwalk, Colahan had four assists and Jonathan Perez had one. Jose Negrete and Ashton Coe combined for the shutout at goalkeeper.

Norwalk is off until next Wednesday (Sept. 7) when it hosts Clyde in another Lake match.

GIRLS SOCCER

Edison 6, Vermilion 0

MILAN — The Chargers scored four times in the first half on Wednesday in a win over the Sailors.

Amelia Chartrant scored three times for Edison, who also got goals from Abby Hearing, Julie Wilgrube and Alaina Keegan. Hearing had two assists and and Keegan had one, while Brianna Marcy made 15 saves at goalkeeper for Edison.
