Norwalk wraps up perfect league week with win over Pirates

Apr. 25—NORWALK — The Norwalk boys tennis team made it a clean sweep in league play for the week with Friday's 4-1 win over visiting Perkins at the Norwalk Middle School.

With the win, the Truckers improved to 10-4 overall and 6-1 in the SBC Lake Division.

In Friday's win, Carson Colahan defeated Ian Hemphill at first singles by scores of 6-2, 6-2. Ashton Coe also picked up the win at second singles over TJ Blue, winning in three sets: 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-2.

Perkins got the win at third singles, as Mike Ingram defeated Ethan Brown (6-2, 6-2).

The first doubles team of Dylan Peaco and Braden Lloyd defeated Tim Gray and Jaron Ninke (6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-4. At second doubles, Bryan Sommers and Josh Newhouse beat Timmy Wensink and Matthew Herrington in a sweep (6-0, 6-0).

The Truckers are scheduled to host Bellevue on Monday, then they get their rematch with Columbian at home on Tuesday. The Tornadoes edged the Truckers, 3-2, on April 12, for their lone league loss.
