Norwalk's Davis; New London's Rowland earn NW district first team

Mar. 1—FINDLAY — Two area players were selected to the Northwest District first team in their respective divisions, it was announced by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association on Wednesday.

Norwalk senior Brooklyn Davis is a repeat first team selection in Division II, while New London junior Emilee Rowland made the first team in Div. IV.

Those selected to the first and second teams are eligible for the All-Ohio teams, slated for release on March 20-21.

A senior forward, Davis averaged 11.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game in the regular season for the Truckers, who take a 23-3 record into Friday's Division II regional championship game vs. Bryan (24-2) at Mansfield Senior High School.

Davis has averaged 13.5 points and 9.3 rebounds in Norwalk's four tournament wins.

Also in Div. II, Norwalk's Abby Koenig and Summer Moehlman were recognized.

Koenig, a sophomore guard, averaged 12.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 3.8 steals per game during the regular season for the Truckers, who set new program marks for wins in the regular season and overall.

Senior Summer Moehlman (7.3 points) was selected to the honorable mention list.

DIVISION III

Sivongsak on the second team

Willard senior guard Syana Sivongsak was a second team selection for the Crimson Flashes (10-14).

Sivongsak averaged 10.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game for Willard. She was tied for fifth in scoring and led the Bay in assists this season.

Area honorable mention selections included the Western Reserve trio of Lilli White, Madison Pfanner and Anna Woodrum; Edison's Kalli Quillen; and Willard's Makinley Schaffer.

Also in Div. III, Western Reserve's Carli Ashley was one of four to earn Coach of the Year honors.

In her third season at her alma mater, Ashley guided the Roughriders to a perfect 14-0 record in the Firelands Conference, and 16-6 overall — after the team won 19 games combined the previous two seasons.

Western Reserve did not have a player average double-figures this season, and lost three of its five games in the regular season by a combined 13 points. Ashley was also the FC and Div. III District 6 Coach of the Year as well.

DIVISION IV

FC co-POYS recognized

New London junior Emilee Rowland earned first team and South Central junior Grace Lamoreaux was second team in Div. IV. The pair shared FC Player of the Year honors.

Rowland helped New London author one of the biggest single-season turnarounds in conference history. She averaged 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as the Wildcats went from 1-21 last season to 17-7 — including two FC losses by a combined six points — this season.

Lamoreaux averaged 10.6 points, nine rebounds, 4.1 assists and 4.8 steals per game this season for the Trojans, who finished 11-13 overall and won a Division IV sectional championship. She was fifth in the FC in scoring, and led the conference in rebounds, assists and steals.

Area honorable mention selections in Division IV included South Central's Kendyl Beverly and Angela Williams; Plymouth's Jaylin Branham and Destiny Detillion; Monroeville's Grace Stieber; New London's Alyssa Henry; and St. Paul's Molly Ridge.
