Norwalk's Davis is All-Ohio third team

Mar. 21—COLUMBUS — A fitting recognition.

For a second straight year, Norwalk senior Brooklyn Davis was selected to the All-Ohio third team, the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association announced Tuesday.

Davis had another big season for the Truckers (23-4), which led to a record-breaking season for the program.

In 27 games, the 5-foot-6 undersized post averaged 11.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game this season. She was fourth in scoring on 125-of-231 shooting (54 percent) and seventh in rebounding in the SBC Lake Division.

Norwalk finished with a program-record 19 wins during the regular season, then added four tournament victories to also set a new mark for overall wins in a season (23).

The Truckers won their second-ever district championship, then added their first-ever regional win — and Davis played a huge role. In five tournament games, she increased her averages to 14.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

Davis finished with 876 career points and 641 career rebounds for her career. She is second all-time behind Jenna Maddocks (669, 1999-02) in career rebounds, while her 233 rebounds from the 2021-22 season are the third-most in a single-season.

Player of the Year honors went to Ms. Basketball award winner Dee Alexander. The sophomore from Cincinnati Purcell Marian led her team to a second straight state championship and has more than 35 NCAA Div. I college offers.

Alexander averaged 25.8 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals this season.

Coach of the Year went to Canfield's Matt Reel. The Cardinals won their first district title in 10 years and finished with a mark of 25-2.
