Norway's Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold claimed victory in a biathlon World Cup sprint race as a run of seven victories in a row by the French team came to an end on Friday.

Tandrevold recorded her second season win and third overall 18.2 seconds ahead of Sweden's Mona Brorsson, with Italy's Lisa Vittozzi another eight-tenths of a second back in third. All three shot clean.

Lou Jeanmonnot was the best French skier in fourth, Julia Simon 10th, and World Cup leader Justine Braisaz-Bouchet 12th. The French team had won seven races since a Norwegian relay win in mid-December, four from Braisaz-Bouchet, two relays and one from Simon.

Hosts Germany missed the podium as well, with Janina Hettich-Walz their best in sixth and Franziska Preuss ninth after missing the last two targets.

But 18-year-old German Julia Tannheimer impressed in her World Cup debut, placing 15th with clean shooting.

A men's sprint is scheduled for Saturday in Ruhpolding, and pursuit races for men and women for Sunday.
