NORWELL ‒ The Neil Simon comedy "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" will be presented by North River Theater, Nov. 18-27.

The play is based on Simon’s early career in 1953 as a junior writer for Sid Caesar’s popular TV show, “Show of Shows.” A young Simon worked on the show with other eventual comedy legends in Mel Brooks, Carl Reiner and Woody Allen. Simon’s real-life experiences are reflected in this play as the writers try to outdo each other, and their "star" Max Prince has to negotiate with NBC higher-ups as they threaten to pull the show.

Jeff Gill is the director, Christine Booth is stage manager and Donna Sousa is producer. Cast members are: Andrew Burke, Mike Whalen, Tom Sousa, Stephen Doherty, Richard Scott, Margaret O'Brien, Eric Henderson, Colleen Eccles and Bill Houldcroft.

Performances are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays Nov. 18-19 and Nov. 25-26 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 20 and Nov. 27. Tickets cost $25 at 781-826-4878 or northrivertheater.org. North River Theater is at 513 River St. Norwell.
