Norwich police conducting homicide investigation after finding body during wellness check

Norwich police are conducting a murder investigation after officers discovered a woman's body over the weekend.

Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to 89 N. Broad St. for a welfare check and missing person complaint, according to the Norwich Police Department.

During an investigation, officers found the body of 44-year-old Alisa Ann Martin in the residence, police said.

"Currently we are treating this case as a homicide and are working closely with the New York State Police as well as the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office," said Chief Reuben Roach.

Norwich police are not releasing any additional details about the case at this time.
