Norwich: Wauregan shooting suspect surrenders

Editor's Note: Merzilas Braboy received a Certificate of Pardon from the State of Connecticut Board of Pardons and Paroles on Sept. 1, 2021. He was pardoned on the four charges stemming from this incident. 

City police have charged a Norwich man in connection with a Sept. 28 shooting.Merzilas Braboy, 18, of 14 Thamesview Road, was charged Tuesday with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. Braboy was charged in a shooting in the area of The Wauregan, 25 Broadway. Police found three bullet holes into the front of the Wauregan building, at the Laundromat and Morning Glories flower shop. No injuries were reported.Braboy turned himself in to police Tuesday and was released on $150,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 30 in Norwich Superior Court.The investigation is ongoing, and police said they anticipate further arrests.
