It's not the $500M jackpot, but Nassau County man won $1 million Powerball prize

A 56-year-old Nassau County man likely has been celebrating the New Year in a big, big way.

The Florida Lottery announced Monday that John Clair of Hilliard claimed a $1 million prize from the Jan. 1 Powerball drawing. His ticket matched the numbers 6 - 12 - 39 - 48 - 50 but not the Powerball that landed on 7.

Clair bought the $2 ticket from the Jack Rabbit Food Mart at 15807 County Road 108 in Hilliard.

No one was an exact match for the jackpot that had soared to $500,000 million.

That grew to $630 million when two people — one from Sacramento, Calif., and the other from Green Bay, Wis. — eventually split the jackpot in the Jan. 5 drawing. It was the seventh-largest in the game's history.

Wednesday night's jackpot is up to $91 million.
