“Sugar Skull”

The Día de Muertos musical “Sugar Skull” is a touring bilingual-bicultural show for young audiences and families. Coming to the Gallo Center, it uses traditional regional music and dance from Mexico to tell the story of a 12-year-old who questions why her family is planning a celebration for deceased loved ones.

Riders in the Sky

The group Riders in the Sky performs at the Gallo Center in Modesto. Together for 40 years, the Riders play their music “The Cowboy Way,” according to venue’s website. The group is made up of Ranger Doug, Too Slim, Woody Paul and Joey the Cowpolka King.

“Piaf! The Show”

Coming to the Gallo Center, “Piaf! The Show” is a musical celebration of the life and music of French chanteuse Edith Piaf. The production is on a world tour to mark the 60th anniversary of Piaf’s death.

“Golda”

Directed by Academy Award winner Guy Nattiv, “Golda” will be screened at the State Theatre. The thriller is set during the 19 days of the Yom Kippur War in 1973 as Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir provides tough leadership and compassion to decide the fate of her nation. There will be a panel discussion following the film with Sue Zwahlen, mayor of Modesto; Sam Oppenheim, CSU Stanislaus professor; and John Rothman, KGO radio talk show host, lecturer and author. Moderator will be Valli Israels, a Stanislaus County Superior Court judge.

“A Night on Broadway”

“Cinderella”

Sierra Repertory Theatre presents Rodgers + Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” in Sonora, a new Broadway adaptation of the classic musical. The family production combines the story’s classic elements — glass slippers, a pumpkin and the ball — along with some twists.

Revol

An Instinct Community Outreach concert will be performed by Revol at the State Theatre. Orlin Francisco Reyes, who performs as Revol, was born and raised in west Modesto and, despite early exposure to gang activity, street violence, drugs and poverty, filtered his emotions in poetry and lyrics, according to the State website. His music features hip-hop, R&B and Urbano Latino.
