College football Week 3 picks, predictions, odds:

Picks and Parlays: California 24, Notre Dame 20

It writes: "The California Golden Bears show value as a double digit road underdog on Saturday. Notre Dame heads into their third game of the season without a win. Both California and Notre Dame are 1-1 ATS. Get behind the underdog as Notre Dame has not been a good football team yet."

Sports Chat Place: Go with the under in California vs. Notre Dame game

Chris Ruffolo writes: "I get the reasoning for backing either side here, because Notre Dame’s been terrible, but they are the better team and Cal didn’t really do anything special against UNLV either in their win. Instead, I’m going to side with the under. I don’t expect Cal to suddenly get their offense rolling out of nowhere against a ticked off Irish unit, but Notre Dame’s offense hasn’t been very good either. I think this is another offensive struggle for both sides and I look for the under to hit."

Tony's Picks: California 28, Notre Dame 17

It writes:  As a double-digit road favorite on Saturday, the California Golden Bears provide value. Notre Dame is without a victory as they enter their third game of the year. Notre Dame and California are both 0-1 ATS. As Notre Dame is not historically a strong football team, support the underdog. The California Golden Bears will win and cover the ATS to a predicted score of 28-17."

Odds Checker: Take the under in California vs. Notre Dame game

Matt MacKay writes: "Cal's defense shut out UNLV in the fourth quarter, so they seem to have already improved their lackluster pass rush and vulnerable run defense. Getting stops on third down was another problem area for the Golden Bears' defense in 2021 but sixth-year head coach, Justin Wilcox, has found a way to get his defense to play its best when it matters most. Only two passing touchdowns have been scored against Cal's defense this season, but they have surrendered over 100 rushing yards in both matchups. Will Cal be able to disrupt Notre Dame's rushing attack? The Irish have struggled to pass and Buchner's shoulder injury could place more emphasis on an inefficient ground game. I expect this game to be a time-of-possession battle and another low-scoring affair in South Bend."

Doc's Sports: Take California with the points vs. Notre Dame

Josh Schonwald writes: "Notre Dame has yielded a total of 391 yards on the ground (195.5 yards per game) and 2 touchdowns by way of the ground game for the campaign. They have conceded 3 touchdowns via the pass in addition to 184.0 yards per game, which has them in 40th in D-1. The Fighting Irish defense has been on the field for 140 plays, which ranks them 75th in the nation. The Fighting Irish are conceding 23.5 points per contest, which puts them 69th in D-1. Over the course of the season, they have allowed 47 points in total."
