Make that a November to remember for the Oklahoma Wesleyan University men’s basketball squad.

On Monday, the Eagles bared their talons to claw out a road win against the Bethel (Kan.) Threshers, 63-54, to reach the end of the month with a 6-1 record. OKWU also remained perfect (4-0) in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Threshers displayed plenty of fight in the first half, forging a 30-30 tie.

But, in the second half, OKWU clamped down harder on defense to hold Bethel to a paltry 24 points.

Meanwhile, the OKWU starters displayed plenty of parity — scoring from five point to 11.

Austin Poling and Kaleb Stokes tied for the high-scoring honors, followed by Brandon Bird and Jaden Lietzke with nine apiece and Derrick Talton Jr. with five points, six boards and three assists.

Bird barely missed out on a double-double (nine rebounds) and spooned out four assists.

Two veterans came off the bench to make major contributions in the low-scoring scrap — Dylan Phillip with nine points and Taylen Miller with six points, five rebounds and no turnovers.

Nick Bonner and Harper Jones poured in 17 and 13 points, respectively, for Bethel. Both of them nailed three treys.

Next up, the Eagles — who are coached by Donnie Bostwick — will be home Thursday for an 8 p.m. tip-off against Friends (Kan.).
