Now, it’s a brand of organic flour being recalled nationwide after E. coli found

Another flour has been recalled after a positive E. coli test, although this recall doesn’t join the group of previous E. coli flour recalls spawning from ADM Milling’s mills.

One lot of 5-pound bags of Wild Harvest Organic All-Purpose Flour, Unbleached got pulled by manufacturer UNFI after an FDA-tested sample tested positive for E. coli, according to the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice. The bags in the recall have a code on top of the bag: 010820 CC 15:58.

Those with this flour at home are asked to dispose of it. It can also be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. Anyone with questions can call UNFI at 855-423-2630, seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Eastern time.

Holiday bakers, take note: Another brand of flour is recalled over E. coli concerns

Several flours from brands such as King Arthur and Pillsbury have been recalled over the last several months after E. coli concerns at ADM Milling’s plant in Buffalo. Earlier this week, Hodgson Mill pulled flour milled at ADM’s St. Louis plant.

E. coli brings diarrhea, stomachaches, nausea and vomiting usually three to four days after eating contaminated food. The more damaging forms of E. coli bring hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a form of kidney failure that can be fatal. Senior citizens, children under 5 years old and people with damaged immune systems are the most vulnerable to E. coli’s worst effects.
