The VS cognac, said to be “surprisingly bold,” with notes of flowers and ripe fruits, according to the H. Mounier website, is aged for a minimum of 3 years. It sells for $42.95.

The VSOP cognac, with notes of liquorice, wood and cigar, is aged for a minimum of 6 years, according to the site. It sells for $52.95.

Both are 40% alcohol by volume.

Kris Johnson, a Fayetteville St. Avold Friendship Alliance volunteer, helped bring the commemorative liquor to the Fayetteville area, according to a Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation news release.

“What a fitting partnership to celebrate the legacy of Marquis de Lafayette, promote the 200th anniversary of his visit to Fayetteville, and honor our relationship with our sister city, St. Avold, France,” she said in the release.
