An eatery offering nitro-alcoholic milkshakes and sushi has shut down after less than a year in business; a caterer finds her own south Augusta space; North Augusta bin store owners branch out; and a regional furniture chain has a new financial head. Buzzed Bull Creamery, Roll On In Sushi Burritos & Bowls

LOST BUZZ: A food franchise offering boozy milkshakes and innovative sushi offerings has closed in Columbia County after staying in business for less than nine months.

Buzzed Bull Creamery and Roll On In Sushi Burritos & Bowls announced a March grand opening in The Plaza commercial development at 7025 Evans Towne Center Drive in Evans. But a sign in the door of the business announcing its closure began greeting visitors to the locked location after Thanksgiving.

“Closing was the most difficult business decision we've had to make,” owner Tracy Frey told The Augusta Chronicle on Friday, declining further comment specifying reasons for closing. “It is with incredible sadness that we had to deliver this news.  We greatly appreciate everyone who supported us and those we've gotten to know so well.  We will miss you all dearly. Sending everyone best wishes during the holiday season and the New Year.”

Frey envisioned putting the two very different franchises under one roof. Buzzed Bull Creamery offers specialty ice creams and milkshakes with the option of ordering them alcohol-infused. Roll On In offers a multicultural menu that emphasizes fresh ingredients served in innovative pairings such as sushi burritos, sushi tacos and sushi doughnuts.

"That was the goal, to bring something unique to the area," Frey told The Chronicle in February 2021.

Infinite Delights Bakery, Catering and Event Space

ENTER THE INFINITE: A former sandwich shop in south Augusta has become a new base of operations for a local caterer.

Infinite Delights Bakery, Catering and Event Space is undergoing a soft-opening period as owner Tawanda Higgs Harris settles into the new space at 2906 Peach Orchard Road.

The newly available sit-down restaurant space is available as a rentable event venue

The Philly CheeseSteak Factory formerly occupied the Peach Orchard property, but still operates a location on East Robinson Avenue in Grovetown.

The Bin Store

HAS BIN: The proprietors of a bin store in North Augusta have, as promised, established another location up the road in Columbia, S.C.

Michael and Jen Prendamano own and operate The Bin Store at 401 W. Martintown Road. They told The Augusta Chronicle in May that they planned to open another location within the next few months and up to four stores by the beginning of 2023.

The other stores might have to wait, but with partners Brad and Craig Giles, the Prendamanos recently opened a Bin Store at 2814 Augusta Road in West Columbia.

The stores are examples of liquidation bin stores that have been sprouting across the country in the past year or so. Bin stores are where wholesale items purchased in bulk are resold at extremely discounted prices. Typically, merchandise is sorted and placed in large bins for shoppers to sift through to extract potential bargains.

As retail sales increase, especially online, so does the return rate for unwanted merchandise. More often, manufacturers find it cheaper to simply sell unmoved stock to liquidation warehouses, where other third-party sellers buy the products on bulk and resell them at bin stores.

Tipperary Sales

THE BOSS’ COMFY CHAIR: A chain of furniture stores spanning three Southern states has hired an Evans woman as its new chief financial officer.

Heather Lester Morin, who had worked for more than 16 years in the Augusta office of national accounting company Cherry Bekaert, was named CFO of Tipperary Sales. The company owns and operates eight La-Z-Boy Home Furnishing and Décor galleries, including one at 4025 Washington Road in Evans.

Morin, a certified public accountant, holds a bachelor’s of business degree in accounting and a master’s of business degree – both from Augusta University. Morin will remain in Augusta, working from the company's business services office.
