You Can Now Take a Painting Class Taught by Bob Ross' Son
Whether you're a painting fanatic or someone who's dabbled in art as a fun hobby, there's a good chance that you recognize the name Bob Ross; the art aficionado hosted the popular PBS series The Joy of Painting from 1983 to 1994. Though the TV-famous painter passed away in 1995, his legacy continues to live on in the art world—countless fans remember tuning into Bob's television series and witnessing the master bring his stunning scenes to life. Now, Mental Floss reports, the beloved artist's son, Steve Ross, will continue his father's legacy by hosting painting classes of his own.

During The Joy of Painting's decade-long television show run, Bob showcased his talent for creating scenic landscapes, but the younger Ross was also lauded for his artistic abilities. Steve made appearances as a guest host or assistant on The Joy of Painting, and he created some of his own masterpieces as part of the program. And now he's bringing that talent to the publish. Unlike his father, WVLT reports that Steve will teach begin teaching the art of painting in person this March; you can learn from the pro at the Blount County Public Library in Maryville, Tennessee.

The classes will also include another special host. Dana Jester, a featured artist on The Joy of Painting, will take part in the demonstrations, too. The classes begin on March 4 and will continue on through March 8; registration will cost $125 per participant, and attendees are responsible for bringing their own supplies to the day-long class sessions.
While participation requires pre-registration and a fee, anyone interested in simply witnessing the duo bring their art to life is invited to watch a free lesson on March 5. The demonstration will take place at 6:30 p.m.
