Now there are two of these popular department stores coming soon to South Mississippi

South Mississippi will have have more choices for holiday shopping next year, with two new Burlington department stores coming to the Coast.

Burlington in Pascagoula was announced in June and it’s under construction along U.S. 90 at the former KMart site that is west of Walmart and east of Lowe’s.

Also coming to that location are an ALDI grocery store, clothing retailer T.J. Maxx, Rack Room Shoes and 5 Below, a store that sells housewares, electronics and other products at low prices.

A second Burlington in South Mississippi is on the way to The Promenade in D’Iberville, where City Manager Bobby Weaver says it will take over the space that was Bed, Bath and Beyond before the store closed. The location is in the same stretch of building with Kohl’s.

Burlington is expanding across the country, with dozens of grand openings in October and dozens more in December.

Coats are still the big sellers for the company although the words “coat factory” were dropped from its name. In addition to clothing for men, women and children, the store sells shoes, accessories, home decor, beauty items and toys.

Headquartered in Burlington, New Jersey, Burlington also is known for its commitment to provide warm coats for those in need in the communities they serve, and will donate a new coat for the first 50,000 coats purchased starting Dec. 1.

“As a caring company committed to adding value to the communities where we live and work, we seek opportunities to offer dignity, hope and self-esteem to those in need,” said Michael O’Sullivan, CEO of Burlington Stores.
