Hot Dog on a Stick is the latest fast food brand to make the leap to fast fashion.
The Santa Monica-born restaurant chain is launching a new apparel and lifestyle merchandise line inspired by its Californian roots, dealing in t-shirts, sweatshirts, leggings and shoes. Accessories such as water bottles, cell phone cases and skateboards will also form part of the series, which will be available online only.
"Hot Dog on a Stick stands for good times and a sunny laidback state of mind," said Lisa Cheatham, Vice President of Growth Marketing for the brand's parent company, Global Franchise Group, in a statement. "Our new line of merchandise elicits those feelings. They instantly bring you to a happy place and add sunshine to your day."
Since being founded in 1946, Hot Dog on a Stick has grown to include locations across the US, as well as in Korea and China.
The chain is the latest in a series of food brands to make a foray into fashion -- September saw the snack brand Cheetos host a catwalk show event during New York Fashion Week, while fast food joints KFC, Taco Bell, Auntie Anne's and McDonalds have all released apparel and accessories collections over the past few years.
