NTAs host Joel Dommett responds to Holly Willoughby snub

Joel Dommett has spoken about Holly Willoughby's snub from the TV presenter category for the upcoming National Television Awards.

While This Morning will be up for defending its title in the best daytime category after scooping the trophy at last year's NTA's, Holly has missed out on a best presenter nomination for the second year running.

Instead, Holly's co-star Alison Hammond has received a nod for the award, which she'll compete for against fellow This Morning regular Martin Lewis, Ant & Dec, Claudia Winkleman and Bradley Walsh.

Addressing Holly's snub in a recent interview with Metro, Joel, who will return to host the NTA's for the third year in a row, said: "It's still lovely. Holly's I'm sure still gonna be there on the evening and even if she isn't, she's represented with This Morning still nominated – it's just absolutely amazing.

"It's just a great night, I really think it's wonderful, and all the nominees… it's just amazing that they're all on that list."

Going on to discuss his third year hosting the awards ceremony, Joel said: "I find myself very annoying. So to be invited back for a third time, I find an absolute joy."

The Masked Singer presenter continued: "It's a huge, huge night entirely and it feels like a big old party and I'm just basically the master of ceremonies and guiding it from port to port throughout the evening.

"I just love looking at all the people having a really fun time in the audience and hopefully everyone at home having a fun time too."

Despite his excitement, Joel previously revealed that he might be forced to quit as host because his wife Hannah Cooper is due to give birth to their first child around the same time as the ceremony.

"They say they've got a contingency but they won't tell me who it is," he said during an appearance on Josh Widdecombe and Rob Beckett's podcast Parenting Hell.

The National Television Awards will air live on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on September 5.
