NUIC rushing battle leads small-school statistics for Rockford-area football

It's down to only three Rockford-area teams left vying for a state title with the semifinals this weekend. And as we head down the backstretch, Lena-Winslow running back Gunar Lobdell is battling Forreston's Johnny Kobler for the rushing lead in the NUIC.

Lobdell just bumped his season total to 1,388 yards rushing with 22 touchdowns, and he trails only Kobler of 12 yards. Forreston is at Le-Win for the Class 1A state semifinals at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Here is a look at the updated stats for all the locals from the Big Northern Conference and the NUIC as we head into the semis:
