By the numbers: The county's largest employers

McDONOUGH COUNTY — The county's top employers have weighed in on their current roster of employees, and their expected outlooks for hiring.

Western Illinois University

  • 1711 employees, including 412 graduate assistants, were reported for Fall 2021, the most recent information available.

  • Staff total numbers are down 587 since 2015. No outlook was given.

NTN Bower

  • 725 full-time permanent employees, plus an additional 100 temporary employees.

  • High demand for products means the number is likely to increase in coming year by about 100, possibly more

Pella

  • 550 employees. This is an increase of about 50 since last year, and an increase of 351 since 2015

  • The number of employees is expected to increase by about 600 in the next few months

  • Outlook: increasing due to an increase in production lines, and a planned increase of additional lines.

McDonough District Hospital

  • 527 employees

  • The hospital is maintaining its current staff numbers. No plans to expand or decrease.

MCUSD 185

  • 295 is the approximate count. This includes full-time and part-time employees.

  • Their staffing levels are slightly down due to a decrease in part-time program assistants (paraprofessionals/teachers aides). There may be an increase with move into the Junior High building, but no definite numbers yet

  • District plans to maintain most current staffing levels

Yetter Manufacturing

  • 189 employees

  • The company forecasts its projects will require hiring an additional 130 employees

  • Additional hires as of today would be 60 employees
