By the numbers: What did we learn about the Jaguars' Week 2 victory over the Colts?
The Jaguars played their best game in quite some time Sunday, shutting out the Indianapolis Colts at home, 24-0.
Before we move onto Week 3, let's take one more look back at the numbers to see how Jacksonville accomplished that feat.
In Week 1, the team committed far too many mental errors, but this week featured a much cleaner contest from the home team.
For reference, the Jaguars accounted for a league-high 13 penalties in Week 1, a 28-22 loss to the Washington Commanders. Against the Colts, the team accounted for just three penalties for 19 yards.
The three penalties were tied for the third-fewest in the league (Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers and the Green Bay Packers).

Here's a breakdown of some of the key stats and numbers that stood out during Sunday's win.
95.3: Trevor Lawrence sets career-highs on near-perfect passing day
Though it was a standout defensive performance, the Jaguars' win over the division rival Colts featured some of the most efficient quarterback play that Jacksonville has seen in quite some time.

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence completed 25 of 30 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. His completion percentage of 83.3% is a career-high, as is his passer rating of 121.5.
Lawrence ranked as the top passer of Week 2, according to ESPN's QBR metric with a QBR of 95.3. Lawrence currently ranks No. 6 in the NFL in total QBR for the season at 73.3.
Lawrence completed passes to eight targets Sunday, and six of the targets caught at least two passes throughout the day. Lawrence's completions came from the 0-9 yard range with the Colts enabling the team to dink and dunk down the field.
"Us as skill players, we want to throw the ball down the field every single play," Jaguars receiver Christian Kirk said after the game. "But, we knew coming into this week that, that [the Colts] was a bend-don't-break type of defense, they were going to try to keep everything in front and we were just gonna have to stay disciplined."
Trevor Lawrence generated a career-high +16.5 passing EPA in the Jaguars 24-0 win over the Colts in Week 2.
Lawrence mostly targeted the short area of the field (0 to 9 air yards), completing 18 of 20 passes for 140 yards & 2 TD (+11.6% CPOE).#INDvsJAX | #DUUUVAL pic.twitter.com/v5wLbVN3Kx— Next Gen Stats (@NextGenStats) September 19, 2022
3: Jaguars forced turnovers rule day for defensive showcase
After posting just nine total turnovers last season, the Jaguars have recorded six turnovers through two games in 2022. Three of those turnovers came Sunday against the Colts as three players recorded interceptions, including safeties Rayshawn Jenkins and Andre Cisco and rookie linebacker Devin Lloyd.
Last year, the Jaguars recorded seven interceptions. Five of those picks came from the team's secondary. This year, three starters in the Jaguars secondary (Jenkins, Cisco and cornerback Tyson Campbell) have recorded interceptions.
Lloyd's interception came after defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi tipped a Matt Ryan throw right into the hands of Lloyd. After the game, Lloyd acknowledged that and was excited about his first-career pick.

"Well, the pass-rush was getting home all game, so he [Ryan] was gonna throw into some tight windows ... it just felt good, it's why you play, to help the team get big plays and I was glad I was able to get one," Lloyd told the Times-Union after the game.
With Lloyd recording a pick this week and rookie outside linebacker Travon Walker recording a pick last week, it was the first time in franchise history that two rookies recorded an INT through the first two weeks of a season. Lloyd has totaled three pass breakups through the first two weeks of the season.
Bonus, +5: With three turnovers on Sunday, the Jaguars currently lead the NFL in turnover differential at +5. They've given the ball away just once, an interception in Week 1 against the Commanders.
0: Jaguars pass protection pitches shutout of their own
After surrendering 20 pressures and two sacks against the Commanders last week, the Jaguars' offensive line got the better of Indianapolis' defensive line Sunday.
Jacksonville's O-line pitched a shutout, surrendering zero sacks throughout the day, and allowing just three total pressures during the contest.
According to Pro Football Focus, Jaguars right tackle Jawaan Taylor surrendered a triple-zero, zero pressures, hits or hurries throughout the day for a second-straight week.
"In this league consistency is key," Taylor told the Times-Union after the game. "You know, going out every week and just trying to dominate your opponent is always our main goal. So we just want to keep going and keep staying consistent throughout the rest of the weeks."
Last week, Jaguars left tackle Cam Robinson told the Times-Union he felt the offensive line is capable of being elite. Sunday appeared to be a building block for that.
.@Jaguars @Trevorlawrencee is 3-0 in his last 3 starts and Sunday he had his best QB rating of his 19 start career! Why? No. 1: Jaguars alone in atop ACF South
Following the week's worth of action in the NFL, the Jaguars are the only team in the AFC South with a victory. That means, they currently are alone in first place in the team's division. This is the first time that the Jaguars sit alone atop the AFC South since Week 2 of the 2018 season.
The last time the Jaguars won the division was in 2017 during the team's AFC Championship Game run.

Of course, there are still 15 games left to be played in the regular season, but the Jaguars earning a victory over a divisional foe this early in the year shouldn't be discredited. The Jaguars will have an opportunity to extend that lead this coming Sunday as they venture out west to take on the Los Angeles Chargers.
18: Jaguars pass rush, led by Josh Allen, gets better of Indy OL
The Jaguars set out to disrupt the Colts on Sunday and they accomplished that feat, getting to Matt Ryan a total of five times on Sunday.
According to PFF, the team pressured the veteran QB 18 times. That's up from nine during Week 1.
The team's pass rush was led by fourth-year OLB Josh Allen, who recorded two sacks and a forced fumble throughout the contest. Allen led the team in pressures with four, while his counterpart, Walker, was second on the team with three pressures, including a QB hit, during the 24-0 shutout victory.
The team's most efficient pass rusher though was veteran DL Adam Gotsis, who recorded three pressures, including a sack, in just seven pass-rush opportunities. His win percentage, according to PFF was a staggering 57.1%.
Gotsis played 12 total snaps with two tackles, one tackle for loss and three quarterback hits.

45: Jaguars RB James Robinson is team's lead tailback
Entering the season, there were questions regarding the usage of both James Robinson and second-year back Travis Etienne. With Robinson coming off of a torn Achilles, many presumed he wouldn't be ready for the start of the season.
Through two weeks, Robinson has played as if he was never hurt in the first place. On Sunday, Robinson dominated the RB snaps, totaling 45 out of 71 (63%) snaps on the day. That is nearly double of what Etienne finished with (26, 37%).
Robinson finished with 23 rushes for 64 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown run. He hauled in two passes for 14 yards. Robinson as the team's lead back, especially given his pass-blocking prowess shouldn't come as a surprise.

Still, even though Robinson is likely to out-snap Etienne on a week-to-week basis, it doesn't mean the second-year player isn't receiving plenty of looks.
On the day, Etienne carried the ball nine times for 20 yards, while catching three passes for 33 yards. That means, Etienne touched the ball on 12 out of his 26 snaps, or 46% of snaps.
