Progress takes time and the Jaguars showed plenty of that in their 28-27 victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. The team demonstrated a type of finish they hadn't for most of the season. Everything appeared to come together — finally.

Of course, there's still plenty of improvement that has to get done prior to crowning the team. Jacksonville hasn't played a complete game since early in the season, and their schedule will only get tougher from here with four potential playoff teams on the docket.

More Jaguars coverage:

On Monday, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson called Sunday's performance a "step in the right direction."

This season hasn't been normal for Jacksonville. If the ball falls a different way at certain points in the year, the Jaguars could be one of the playoff teams that other franchises are talking about.

“It’s a strange year for us. You look at seven losses, and six of those are one-score games. Then this is a one-score game, two-point to win. You look at a lot of different things and think, ‘Wow, this should be different,’" Pederson said when asked about the team's confidence level rising even through the losses.

"You have a receiver that goes for 145 yards but no touchdowns. That’s kind of strange, right?"

Pederson was referring to Zay Jones, who caught 11 passes for 145 yards and zero touchdowns Sunday. While it's not exactly common, it's happened perhaps more than you might imagine.

Since 2000, there have been 53 occurrences of that type of stat line — at least 11 receptions and at least 145 receiving yards without a receiving touchdown, including Jones' occurrence on Sunday. Four players, including Jones, have accomplished this feat in 2022.

Still, the point remains, it's been a strange season and that makes for a strange team dynamic as they sit at 4-7, remaining confident and hopeful for the future.

That was just one of the numerous numbers that deserve a further look from Sunday's win over the Ravens for Jacksonville. Let's take a look at some of the others that jump out.

11: Zay Jones posts career day in victory over Ravens

As mentioned previously, Zay Jones had a monster performance against the Ravens, catching 11 passes for 145 yards. Though the game-winning touchdown was caught by Marvin Jones, Zay Jones was on the other end of a miraculous two-point conversion catch that sealed the deal for Jacksonville.

With 11 receptions, Zay Jones set a new career-high in receptions in a single game. His 145 yards were also a career-high.

"Zay ran a good route. He's the guy. We felt great about that play, kind of been cooking that up, and just executed it great. It was a great catch by him," Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence said after the game Sunday.

Jones has hauled in 58 receptions for 562 yards and a touchdown thus far this season. He is on pace for 99 receptions, 955 yards and two touchdowns.

129.8: Trevor Lawrence shines bright in roller coaster victory

There's no question that the star in Jacksonville on Sunday against the Ravens was Lawrence. He completed 29 of 37 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns. It was Lawrence's best performance as a pro. His 29 completions tied for the second-most of his career, as did his 321 passing yards.

His completion percentage of 78.38 percent marks the seventh time this season that Lawrence has completed at least 70 percent of his passes.

What shined brightest, though, was Lawrence's 129.8 passer rating, the best in his career. It also set a franchise record for passer rating in a game with at least 37 passing attempts.

He set a personal record for yards per attempt against the Ravens at 8.68 Y/A.

After the game, Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard praised Lawrence for his performance, especially given everything the second-year QB, and the rest of the team, had to go through last year.

"I'm just so happy for Trevor because he had to deal with Urban Meyer as a rookie and I don't even know if he had a rookie year," Wingard said via ActionSportsJax following the game on Sunday.

"To see the growth he made the growth he's made, not just on the field, but just his preparation, his demeanor, all that. When the rock breaks, it's not just that one chip, it's all the chips that stacked up before that. [I''m] so happy for him."

38: Jaguars set franchise record for least rushing total in a win

Though the Jaguars were able to pass the football effectively against the Ravens, especially in the fourth quarter, their rushing attack was essentially non-existent.

Jaguars running back Travis Etienne played just five snaps prior to exiting the contest with a foot injury but should be fine to play this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Jacksonville totaled just 38 rushing yards on 20 attempts. Backup running back JaMycal Hasty totaled 28 rushing yards on 12 attempts.

The 38 rushing yards marked the lowest total by the team in a victory in its history. The previous low was set by the 1997 Jaguars in a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers with just 40 rushing yards.

"We’d like to get more out of the run game, but you’re playing a really good run defense. Sometimes you have to do what works and throwing the football yesterday was the deal," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Monday.

As for the Ravens, with just 38 rushing yards allowed, it tied the franchise mark for the fewest rushing yards allowed in a loss. The other occasion occurred in 2016 against the New York Giants.

13: Foye Oluokun becomes tackling machine against Ravens

Though Sunday was primarily about the Jacksonville offense, the team's defense also stood up at key moments, especially Jaguars linebacker Foye Oluokun.

Oluokun set a career-high with 13 solo tackles. His previous high came in 2020 against the Carolina Panthers as a member of the Atlanta Falcons. Oluokun's 18 total tackles were also a career-high. His previous high was set this season in the Jaguars' 29-21 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

"If I read it right and get to the ball, that's what I do for my team," Oluokun said after the game Sunday.

Jacksonville deployed a unique grouping Sunday, playing with three safeties for the majority of the contest. Rookie third-round pick LB Chad Muma earned his first start, playing over a benched first-round LB Devin Lloyd.

Muma played every snap for Jacksonville (72), while Lloyd played a season-low 27 snaps. Muma totaled four solo tackles and nine total tackles.

+2: Jaguars remain positive in turnover differential

The Jaguars are back in the positive when it comes to the turnover differential with +2 on the season, meaning two more turnovers forced by the Jaguars' defense than given by the team's offense.

On Sunday, Jacksonville recovered two fumbles, one forced by defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton, the other by safety Andrew Wingard, who played a season-high 34 defensive snaps on Sunday.

Wingard totaled three tackles and a forced fumble in the team's win.

The Jaguars forced three total fumbles. Safety Rayshawn Jenkins forced a fumble, but the team wasn't able to recover it.

Jacksonville lost a fumble late in the contest near the end of the third quarter after Lawrence was sacked by Ravens LB Tyus Bowser. The ball was recovered by Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters.

4: Jaguars post most wins since 2019

Though it's not a glamour stat, it's worth noting that Jacksonville hasn't had more than three wins in a season since 2019 (six).

With Sunday's victory, Jacksonville now has four victories. In 2020, Jacksonville accomplished just one victory, while they had three wins in 2021 under both fired head coach Urban Meyer and former interim HC Darrell Bevell.

Pederson is currently fifth all-time in Jaguars history among head coaches, which includes interim coaches Mel Tucker (1-3) and Bevell (1-3). Meyer posted just two victories last year, while former Jags HC Mike Mularkey had just two victories in 2012, going 2-14.
