The Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6) picked up their first win since September on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-6).

Earning a 27-20 victory after trailing 17 points in the first half, Jacksonville made progress toward its ultimate goal as the second half of the season rolls on.

Before the team gets set to take on the Chiefs this coming Sunday in Kansas City, it's important to take a look back to see how the team performed and what transpired to point toward the future — good or bad.

More Jaguars coverage:

The Jaguars put together a complete game Sunday, playing good, complementary football through all three phases of the game.

It was the second time in team history the Jaguars were able to come back and win after trailing by at least 17 points.

It is the third time this season Jacksonville scored at least 20 unanswered points.

The Jaguars have eight games remaining on their schedule and the victory over the Raiders was the first of their "new" season, as explained by Jaguars receiver Marvin Jones Jr. on Monday.

Still, there was plenty to learn from the team's victory over Las Vegas, a positive result after five weeks of disappointment. We take you by the numbers to take a look at some things that stood out.

89: Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence posts efficient outing

There's no question Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence dealt with some criticism over the past couple of weeks. That was especially true after the team lost to the Denver Broncos in London, unable to push past the club during the first half of the contest while leading 10-0.

Lawrence threw an ill-advised end-zone interception and was ineffective through essentially the remainder of the contest.

Against the Raiders this week, Lawrence settled down, putting on perhaps his best performance since he joined the team as the first-overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He completed 25 of 31 passes for 235 yards and one TD.

He completed 18 out of his last 20 passes Sunday, including a TD to receiver Christian Kirk to cut the Raiders' lead to just three, 20-17. The game also earned him a career-high 89 Next Gen Stats passing score. He generated positive EPA on 74.2 percent of his dropbacks, the highest rate in a game since Patrick Mahomes in Week 4, 2021, according to NGS.

Lawrence's ability to avoid sacks was also on display during the contest. Since 2000, Lawrence ranks eighth in sack percentage among quarterbacks who have started at least 26 games in their career with a sack percentage of 4.61 percent.

That's behind Peyton Manning (3.13 percent), Drew Brees (3.83), Patrick Mahomes (3.98), Brett Favre (4.25), Justin Herbert (4.32), Doug Flutie (4.40) and Tom Brady (4.54).

3: Jaguars RB Travis Etienne is in good company

It was another successful outing for Jaguars running back Travis Etienne. The second-year back ran for a career-high 28 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns, touching the football a total of 31 times, also a career-high.

It was the third-straight game in which Etienne rushed for at least 100 yards and one touchdown. Etienne and Jaguars legend RB Fred Taylor are the only two players in franchise history to accomplish that feat. Taylor accomplished that feat twice in his career, in 2000 and in 2007.

Thus far this season, Etienne has accounted for 854 scrimmage yards, which ranks 11th thus far this season behind Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon and Buffalo Bills WR Stefon Diggs (857 yards). That ranks seventh this year among all backs.

Etienne led the league this week with 13 missed tackles forced, according to Pro Football Focus. He ranks 5th this year among backs this year with 38 total missed tackles forced this season. He also has the most rushes of 25 or more yards this season with six, according to PFF.

On Monday, Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said that he was "a little" surprised by how physical of a runner Etienne is given he is listed at 5-foot-10, 210 pounds. He's been able to break through for a few extra yards when it appears to be headed nowhere from the onset.

"The more you’re around him, you understand that he’s hard to bring down, he’s kind of slithery through the hole when he finds it," Pederson said.

"He stays low, keeps his pads low. He gets 2 to 3 to 4 extra yards. He’s a tough runner, a hard runner, and from that standpoint, you think that it’s a little bit surprising that he can do that. He’s a powerful kid, keeps his legs moving, and it’s good to see.”

5: Dawuane Smoot continues to flourish in reserve role

One of the most consistent players the Jaguars have had over the past few seasons on defense has been defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot, who currently leads the team with 5.0 sacks this season. Smoot has racked up five or more sacks in every season since 2019 and was originally drafted by the team in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

On Sunday against the Raiders, Smoot accounted for two sacks, including one in crunch time as the Raiders attempted to drive down the field and score a game-tying touchdown with 50 seconds remaining.

He is a great player, and he has tremendous skill and ability and somebody that we lean on heavily to get after the passer. He did a nice job," Pederson said after the game on Sunday. "You know, [he] did a great job of just sticking to his game plan and making some big plays, especially here at the end."

52: Jamal Agnew sparks team in comeback

It's worth mentioning the Jaguars receiver/return specialist Jamal Agnew had a major impact on the team's win over the Raiders. To start the second half, Agnew returned Las Vegas' kickoff 52 yards to set Jacksonville up in fantastic field position to tie the game at 17-17.

Agnew returned to play after missing the past two games due to a knee injury. He played just one offensive snap on Sunday, but was available on all special teams duties as a punt and kick returner.

0: Jaguars shutout Davante Adams in second half

The Jaguars adjusted quickly coming out of halftime to slow down one of the top players in the league, Raiders receiver Davante Adams. During the first half of the contest, Adams burst out to the tune of nine receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

During the second half of the contest, Adams accounted for just one reception for zero yards. After the game, Adams didn't seem all too pleased by his team's inability to get him the football more during the second half.

Jacksonville was able to adjust, rolling coverage over to Adams' side throughout the game while also putting their best cover man, cornerback Tyson Campbell in front of Adams for most of the contest. It was a package deal, Pederson said on Monday with Campbell having some help and a key to get after the QB.

"He did it well, he played well, and it was really a good opportunity. It was kind of the first one in his young career to go against a very good receiver, Davante Adams [Raiders WR Davante Adams]. I thought overall, he settled into the game and did some good things," Pederson said of Campbell's performance.

According to PFF, Campbell allowed four receptions for 66 yards and a TD against Adams.

It wasn't just the number of plays that didn't go Adams' way, though. He dropped two passes, and Raiders QB Derek Carr completed just 5 of 15 passes for 36 yards in the second half of the game.
