Nurse Killed In Crash While Giving Aid At Other Crash: Patch PM

STOUGHTON, MA — Today is Monday, Nov. 2. Here's what Patch has been covering south of Boston and on Cape Cod and the Islands.

An off-duty nurse from Stoughton was killed during a hit-and-run crash while trying to help a driver involved in a separate roll-over crash, Rhode Island State Police said.

The initial crash happened just around 1:45 a.m., Sunday, on Interstate 95 North near exit 30 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

An off-duty nurse, Jennifer Toscano, 34, of Stoughton stopped to help the driver and was hit by a red car that drove off, police said. Toscano was pronounced dead at the scene.

Christmas Movie Being Shot In Falmouth

A new Christmas movie is slated to be shot on Main Street in Falmouth an undisclosed house in the Cataumet area.

Writer and director John Stimpson told the Falmouth Enterprise his film "The Cape House" is a feel-good holiday tale made for television that you would expect to see on Hallmark's "Countdown to Christmas" lineup or Lifetime's "It's a Wonderful Lifetime" holiday schedule. Much of the movie will be shot at familiar locations including Eight Cousins bookstore and the Pickle Jar Kitchen restaurant.

North Quincy High School Transitions to Remote Learning

Students at North Quincy High School were dismissed at 9 a.m. on Monday and will be learning remotely for the next two weeks following a weekend party that involved approximately 70 students. Superintendent of Schools Kevin W. Mulvey released a statement on Monday morning after he was informed of the party, which did not follow appropriate COVID-19 precautions.

"Photos were posted on social media and COVID-19 precautions such as social distancing and mask wearing were not observed," the statement says. "After consultation with the Quincy Health Department, I am moving North Quincy High School to remote learning for the next two weeks and canceling Athletics to protect the health and safety of the students and staff."

Braintree Considers Expansion To Elementary In-Person Learning

School officials are considering two options to expand the amount of in-person learning offered at Braintree elementary schools.

Assistant Superintendent James Lee presented the options at Thursday's Policy and Education Subcommittee meeting, one of which involved creating full days of school and the other adding two more half days to students' schedules.
