Nurse Who Lost Legs in Blast Dances With Husband During Wedding Ceremony at Lviv Hospital
A nurse who lost both her legs and four fingers when a land mine exploded underneath her in the Ukrainian city of Lysychansk on March 27, shared an emotional first dance with her husband during their wedding ceremony at a hospital in Lviv.
Footage released by the First Medical Association of Lviv on May 2 shows Victor carrying 23-year-old Oksana in his arms as they dance in a hospital ward.
The association said on Facebook that the couple had been walking home when the blast happened, tearing off Oksana’s legs and fingers but leaving Victor unharmed.
Oksana was operated on at Lysychansk Hospital. She was then evacuated to the Dnieper, where her wounds healed and her limbs were prepared for prosthetics, before arriving at the hospital in Lviv, the association said.
The couple, who have been together for six years and have two children, decided to get married in Lviv. “The wedding rings were bought in Lviv, where she found a white dress.
