Nurses rally outside UC Davis Health in support of safe patient care, staffing

A group of nurses rallied outside UC Davis Health to support safe patient care and safe staffing. Nurses tell KCRA 3 they’re against what’s called a “Mandatory Call.” They say they would have to work an additional four hours after their 12-hour shift is over. “The thing that concerns me more is that I am a night shifter, and I choose to work nights because that’s what’s best for my family but tat the end of that 12-hour shift, I can admit I am exhausted. And to come on and say ‘oh well we need you to work an additional four hours after that shift’ puts my safety at risk and also puts patient safety at risk,” said Sara Koeller, an RN with the CNA Union.
