NWS confirms at least 5 tornadoes in Ohio during Wednesday’s storms

The National Weather Service reported that at least five tornadoes in Ohio early Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has confirmed the following tornadoes:

• An EF2 tornado touched down in Springfield, Clark County, then turned into an EF1 tornado as it moved toward Madison County.

• An EF1 Tornado touched down in Riverside, Montgomery County and moved into Greene County

• An EF2 tornado was confirmed in Blacklick, Franklin County

• An EF1 tornado in Hillard, Franklin County

• An EF2 tornado was confirmed in Licking County

In Clark County the tornado touched down south of Shawnee High School on Selma Pike where several trees were snapped, the NWS said.

The tornado then strengthened and broadened as it moved east-northeast eventually reaching EF2 intensity along Ridge Road near Highway 41 where three homes had complete roof loss.

Intermittent EF1 and EF2 damage then continued for around 10 miles to the east northeast continuing into Madison County.

The total path length exceeds 15 miles, according to the NWS said.

The NWS also shared the path of the tornado that touched down in far eastern Montgomery County near the intersection of Airway and Spinning Road.

The tornado then crossed part of Wright Patterson Air Force Base where a hangar was heavily damaged and several aircraft being restored were tossed around, As reported on News Center 7 at 5.

The tornado exited the base where it ripped much of the roof off an apartment building on Zink Road.

The tornado continued onto Wright State’s campus where several trees were uprooted before it dissipated.
