NY Knicks or Detroit Pistons? Jalen Duren trade drama had social media abuzz at NBA Draft

For a minute, Memphis basketball center Jalen Duren was headed to the Charlotte Hornets. And then he wasn't.
Duren was drafted as the No. 13 overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft Thursday, but that's when things got crazy.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Duren being traded to the New York Knicks at the same time ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported him going to the Detroit Pistons.

Confusion continued as fans weren't sure where Duren was going. More reports trickled out that Duren was indeed headed to the Knicks while some added he was heading to Detroit. Even Utah Jazz All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell was among those tweeting how unsure they were about it.
"Woj and Shams got me like....," Mitchell said adding two laughing emojis along with a GIF.

Wojnarowski cleared things by reporting that Duren was being traded to the Knicks and then being flipped to the Pistons in a deal that involved Knicks guard Kemba Walker also going to Detroit.
Wojnarowski added on ESPN's broadcast that Pistons general manager Troy Weaver had targeted Duren with the No. 5 pick if not for Purdue guard Jaden Ivey slipping out of the top four. The Pistons eventually drafted Ivey and were still able to get Duren.
It made for one of the most intriguing moments of the draft's second hour.
