NY all-state softball: Class C Player of Year Olivia Kennedy, Atalyia Rijo among Section 4 picks

Seniors Olivia Kennedy of Greene and Atalyia Rijo of Corning head Section 4 selections on all-state softball teams, so chosen by the New York State Sports Writers & Coaches Organization For Girls Sports.

Kennedy, pitcher for state runner-up Greene, is Class C Player of the Year for a second year running.

Arkansas-bound shortstop Rijo, 2022 Gatorade’s New York Player of the Year, is a three-time first-team all-state pick.

Deposit-Hancock’s Class D state champions are represented by four first-teamers — OF/P Kaitlyn Macumber, 2B Riley Martin, 3B/P Rylee Smith and P Leeanna West — as well as Coach of the Year Dan Briggs.

Other first-team picks from Section 4 were Vestal's Kendall Brady in Class A and Chenango Valley's Kate Hope in Class B.
