NY1 weatherman Erick Adame fired following sex video

Spectrum News NY1’s longtime weatherman Erick Adame said he has been fired by the news outlet after he appeared in an adult webcam website. The video of him participating in NSFW activity was sent to his employer and his mom, he said.

“I have recently been terminated from my job as the meteorologist at Spectrum News NY1 in NYC,” he posted on Instagram Monday. “I am taking this opportunity to share my truth rather than let others control the narratives of my life.”

He said that despite being a television personality who appears in living rooms across the nation’s largest media market, he felt compelled to perform on an adult webcam website.

“It was 100% consensual on both of our parts,” Adame said of himself and his co-star. “I wasn’t paid for this, and it was absurd of me to think I could keep this private. Nonetheless, my employer found out and I was suspended and then terminated.”

The 38-year-old meteorologist has asked a Manhattan judge to compel the internet forum where his compromising footage appeared to disclose who shared that material with unintended recipients, according to the Daily Beast which first reported on the lawsuit.

Adame added, in his social media post, that his therapist said he engages in “compulsive behavior.” The newsman said he wouldn’t argue with critics who would use words like “stupid” or “reckless” to describe his shenanigans.

Adame went on to say that as “a public figure I recognize that I have certain responsibilities that come along with the privileges I enjoyed.

”But, let me be clear about something: I don’t apologize for being openly gay or for being sex-positive — those are gifts and I have no shame about them.”

He wrote that he “had the job of my dreams and I lost it due to my own lapse in judgment.”

Adame joined NY1 in 2017. The cable provider has not commented on his departure. Prior to that, according to his LinkedIn page, Adame spent 10 years at Spectrum News, which he joined after one year at KAUZ-TV in Texas.

Several fans showed support for the embattled broadcaster on his Instagram feed.

“It’s really no one’s business at all,” wrote one supporter. “I don’t see the problem. Go get an onlyfans and really start making dat money.”

Others wondered where he’d been and said they hoped to see him again. It’s unclear when exactly Adame was taken off the airwaves.

“I’m done with NY1,” said another viewer, who credited Adame for being “a bright spot” for her throughout the pandemic on “Mornings on 1.”
