NYC Restaurant Week Goes 'To Go' Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

NEW YORK CITY — Gourmands rejoice: New York City's Restaurant Week won't let the coronavirus pandemic take a bite out of your annual chance to taste the city's finest fare at discounted prices.

You can still get dressed up to sit down in front of a delectable plate of cuisine, but you'll be doing it from home.

Starting Jan. 25, Restaurant Week To Go offers New Yorkers the chance to sample food from more than 570 restaurants either, yes, to go or by delivery. It's a solution that keeps dining COVID-safe while helping the city's restaurant industry, which has struggled in the pandemic.

“Restaurants and restaurant workers need our support now more than ever, so it was important to us that all eateries across the five boroughs had the opportunity to participate in this program aimed at increasing local support," Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company, which organizes the annual event, said in a statement. "We are thrilled that more than 570 restaurants have signed on, and we are grateful to each of them for coming together to showcase NYC’s world-class cuisine during this reimagined NYC Restaurant Week. And to New Yorkers we say make plans to do your part - order often and be generous with gratuities.”

A record number of restaurants are participating this year and offering at least one $20.21 meal, which includes an entree and at least one side, for customers.

The full list of restaurants will be available online starting Jan. 25, but some high-profile restaurateurs and establishments include:

  • José Andrés (Mercado Little Spain)

  • Joe Bastianich (Babbo, Casa Mono, Eataly, Lupa)

  • Tren’ness Woods-Black (Sylvia’s)

  • Daniel Boulud (Bar Boulud, Epicerie Boulud)

  • Andrew Carmellini (Bar Primi, The Dutch, Lafayette, Leuca, Locanda Verde, Westlight)

  • Leah Cohen (Pig & Khao)

  • Lisa Fernandes (Sweet Chili)

  • Danny Meyer (Blue Smoke, Daily Provisions, Gramercy Tavern, Intersect by Lexus, Marta, Tacocina, Union Square Cafe)

  • Marcus Samuelsson (Red Rooster)

  • Ed Schoenfeld (RedFarm)

  • Jean-Georges Vongerichten (The Fulton, JoJo, Mercer Kitchen, Nougatine, Perry Street)

  • Melba Wilson (Melba’s)

There's an added promotion for registered Mastercard holders.

Cardholders can also get a $10 statement credit as part of the All In NYC: Neighborhood Getaways promotion on each order of $20.21 at participating restaurants, according to a release. The offer is for up to 10 transactions total or until a $100 credit limit is reached under the All In NYC: Neighborhood Getaways promotion, whichever happens first. They can register their Mastercard at MCAllinNYC.com.

Restaurant Week runs from Jan. 25 to 31, but restaurants have the option to extend their offers from Feb. 1 to 7.

Restaurant collections and search options will be available at nycgo.com/restaurantweek starting the first day of the event.
