NYC woman beaten, left in critical condition over $175 watch, cops say

A 42-year-old woman was hospitalized in critical condition after a violent mugging in a Brooklyn hotel, cops said Tuesday.

She was knocked unconscious during the robbery and the thief got away with her handbag containing a $175 Michael Kors watch, according to police.

The victim had arranged to meet her attacker in the Quality Inn on Third Ave. near 44th St. in Sunset Park just before noon Sunday when the crook jumped her and tried to take her bag, cops said.

The mugger kicked the woman repeatedly as the two fought, knocking the victim unconscious. He then ran out of the hotel with with her handbag, surveillance video recovered by police shows.

EMS found the woman at the hotel. She was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where she remained in critical but stable condition Tuesday.

Police sources said the woman has no home address and may have been staying at the hotel through a city housing program.

Detectives released surveillance images of the suspect Tuesday in the hopes someone recognizes him. He was described as dark-skinned and between ages 24 and 35. He was last seen wearing a green Yankees baseball cap, black jeans, black boots and glasses and was carrying a blue bag, cops said.
