6 arrested, NYC monument defaced in several acts of vandalism

Six people were arrested after the USS Maine National Monument in Columbus Circle was defaced with anti-police graffiti Thursday night, one of several incidents of vandalism across the city.

- There is new video of graffiti that was scrawled on a Columbus Circle statue. The USS Maine National Monument was defaced during anti-police protests last night. Demonstrators began marching from Greenwich Village, arriving at Columbus Circle just after 10:00 PM. Six people were arrested on charges ranging from assault to damage to public property. The NYPD later tweeted that vandalism is not part of a peaceful protest.
