Johanne Brierre, the entrepreneur behind the Flatbush-based co-working space BKLYN Commons, cut the ribbon on her latest venture, a co-working space for hair stylists, massage therapists, and nail technicians –everything beauty. Those are the jobs that can't be done via Zoom, Brierre says. (Brooklyn Reader)

  2. East Flatbush may be one of the neighborhoods receiving plainclothes police units, in an initiative announced by Mayor Eric Adams to target gun violence in “30 precincts where 80 percent of violence occurs.” (Brooklyn Paper)

  3. Brooklyn's Community Board 14 approved a plan to build a 150-student Yeshiva school for children with autism. The plan was scaled back from 700 students, after the community expressed concerns over the strain the project would have on traffic. (Brooklyn Reader)

Kaegan Mays-Williams, a progressive Democrat, is running against moderate State Senator Simcha Felder, who's represented parts of Ditmas Park, Flatbush, Kensington, Borough Park, and Sunset Park, for over two decades.
