NYPD officer attacked, bitten on head by dog in Brooklyn

An NYPD officer was injured after a dog attacked him in Brooklyn Sunday, police said.

Cops responded to a 911 call of a possible person armed with a weapon on Neptune Ave. near W. 35 St. in Coney Island about 6:10 p.m. When they arrived, a dog lunged at them, biting one of the officers in the head.

At least one of the officers fired off a shot, striking the dog, cops said.

The injured officer was taken to Lutheran Hospital in stable condition. A second officer was transported to an area hospital for evaluation, police and sources said.

The dog was taken to a local animal hospital. It wasn’t immediately clear if it survived the shot.

Police did not make any immediate arrests in the incident.
