An accused hate attacker picked the wrong Asian man to mock and threaten — an undercover cop who quickly arrested him, police said.

The hate crime incident happened 1:40 p.m. Friday by Madison Square Garden at W. 32nd St. and 7th Ave. in Midtown Manhattan.

Police said the undercover officer was part of a group added to the Asian Hate Crime Task Force two weeks ago to deal with the surge of attacks against Asian New Yorkers.

Juvian Rodriguez, 35, confronted and derided the undercover officer and threatened to stab him in the face, said police.

Rodriguez was charged with menacing and harassment, both as a hate crime, and with drug possession.

Hate crimes have been recorded against about 40 Asian people so far this year.
