NYPD releases pics of witnesses to murder of dismembered Brooklyn woman; boyfriend arrested

Police are looking for six people they believe witnessed the death of the woman who was recently dismembered and stuffed into suitcases in her Brooklyn apartment, cops said Sunday as her boyfriend was arrested, according to sources.

D’Asia Johnson, 22, was discovered jammed into two suitcases in the apartment on Linwood St. near Atlantic Ave. in Cypress Hills on Sept. 21, according to police.

On Sunday, NYPD officers picked up Johnson’s boyfriend, who had at least one warrant out for his arrest in Nassau County, police sources said.

He was later handed over to Nassau County Police, the sources said.

Johnson had been missing for several days when her mutilated body was discovered after neighbors complained of a stench.

A meat cleaver was found near her corpse.

Police on Sunday released photos of five women and one man they believe could help them find Johnson’s killer.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.

Johnson’s boyfriend would routinely beat her up in the hallway, the woman’s friend and neighbor previously told the Daily News.

“He broke her ribs, her legs, a couple months ago,” Stephanie Harris said after Johnson was discovered. “She came back, she was on crutches. And he broke her apartment down, broke the TVs in her apartment. And I cried to her, like ‘Listen, I don’t want to see you on the news.’

“He always said, ‘The only way you get out is when your mother’s gonna bury you, b---h,’” Harris, 33, continued.

Moments before the gruesome discovery was made, Johnson’s boyfriend walked out of the apartment building carrying a duffle bag alongside a friend, police sources said.

He had not been seen since his Sunday arrest.
