NYSPHSAA golf championships: Big day for Ursuline; long Day for Section 1 boys
It was a memorable day for Ursuline, which is coming home from the NYSPHSAA Girls Golf Championship at McGregor Lakes Country Club with a team title. Nina Choe and Sofia Nogalo led the charge for the Koalas, finishing second and third overall.
Albany Academies sophomore Kennedy Swedick captured the championship with an even-par total of 144.
Choe, an eighth-grader, began the final round Monday one shot off the lead. She closed with a 75 and wound up four shots back. Nogalo, a junior, shot a final-round 76 to finish with a 6-over total of 150.

Section 1 repeated, as well, finishing 20 strokes better than runner-up Section 8.
All players who finished inside the top 20 were named all-state. Scarsdale's Emma Lee, Fox Lane/Byram Hills' Faith Petrino and Rye's Hailey Ryan joined Choe, Nogalo and Kret on that list.

Eastchester freshman Kevin Wang also carded a final-round 73 to move into a tie for 20th. He and O'Grady-Rodgers earned all-state honors by virtue of a top-20 finish.
