O’Fallon High School girls tennis team posts big win against Belleville East

The O’Fallon High School girls tennis team enjoyed a very impressive recent stretch of performances.

For starters, on Thursday, Sept. 22, the Panthers defeated Belleville East 5-4.

“It was awesome!!” O’Fallon coach Erin Thoman said. “All the girls played great!”

Thoman said the outcome came down to Morgyn Chambers’ match at No. 6 singles with her winning 10-8 in a third set tiebreaker.

O’Fallon also won at No. 1 doubles (Isabel Wells/Natalie Spihlman) and No. 2 doubles (Bela Sanghavi/Analiese Reidelberger). In singles, Wells won at No. 1, Spihlman at No. 4, and Chambers at No. 6.

“Wow, it very exciting to beat East!!” Thoman said.

Then, on Monday, Sept. 26, the Panthers played a close match with Chatham Glenwood but lost 5-4.

Bela Sanghavi and Analiese Reidelberger won at No. 2 doubles. In singles, Wells won at No. 1, Sanghavi at No. 2 and Reidelberger at No. 3. Wells and Spihlman lost a close match at No. 1 doubles, 9-7.

On Wednesday, Sept. 28, the Panthers celebrated senior night while defeating Alton 7-2. The seniors include Katie Tillock, Lauren Edwards, Audrey Bouland, Olivia White, Breya Bergom, and Madison Turner.

OTHS capped the strong stretch of play with a 9-0 win against Althoff on Thursday, Sept. 29.

O’Fallon is 10-8.
