Oak Fire: Evacuation orders expand in Mariposa County

A fire that sparked Friday afternoon in Mariposa County has forced immediate evacuations for nearby residents, officials said. The fire started sometime after 2:30 p.m. near Highway 140 and Carstens Road by the community of Midpines. Video from Alert Wildfire shows a massive plume of smoke. Cal Fire, the state's fire management agency, said at least 1,300 acres were burned as of 5:40 p.m., up from 611 acres burned at 4:40 p.m.
