Oak Hill HS senior’s nighttime photo of New River Gorge Bridge gains attention

OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) — There’s a saying that a picture is worth a thousand words, and people are talking about a picture of the New River Gorge Bridge in Fayette County.

Oak Hill High School senior Bradley Surface said on Monday, February 5, 2024, that he decided to skip a high school dance recently and instead headed to Fayette Station with friends, where he captured the image.

His teacher, Vanessa Thompson, sent in the photo to 59News so viewers could also see the photo.

59News asked Bradley why he thinks the photo made such waves at his high school.

“It really shows where we come from. Not a lot of people think that West Virginia’s beautiful, and then you get a picture like that, and everybody changes their mind,” Bradley said.
