Another round, another decisive victory for the Oak Park High girls basketball team.

One more victory and the Eagles can call themselves champions.

Led by a pair of freshmen, Oak Park cruised into the CIF-Southern Section Division 5A championship game by dominating West Valley from start to finish for a 65-27 win in a semifinal game Saturday night in Hemet.

Jaelah Brown had 24 points and 13 rebounds and Delaney White finished with 16 points, nine assists and nine rebounds as Oak Park closed the first quarter with a 16-0 run and never looked back.

The Eagles have outscored their opponents by a 259-95 margin with Saturday night being the only game of their four playoff matchups where an opponent lost by less than 40 points (and it was oh-so close at 38).

Oak Park has had a remarkable turnaround under first-year coach Will Burr, who directed Viewpoint to the Division 1 title last season, beating Camarillo and superstar Gabriela Jaquez, now at UCLA, in the final 59-53. After going 1-20 last season, the Eagles ended Camarillo's league winning streak at 58 games and won the Coastal Canyon League championship to snap the Scorpions' league title streak at 11.

The Eagles (20-11) enter the championship game on a 12-game winning streak. Up next is top-seeded St. Monica Prep this Saturday, with the site and time to be determined. St. Monica Prep has been nearly as dominant in its run to the final, outscoring its opposition 255-108, including a 72-39 semifinal win over Riverside Prep on Saturday.
